What is it?
A Made In Malaysia Intellectual Production. A Caring Project for the less fortunate.
Cerita-Cerita Malaysia or The Malaysian Anecdotes is a potpouri of true and original Malaysian stories to be published similar to Readers' Digest. The stories are short and easily readable in, say, 5 to 15 minutes and cover a variety of interests from sports to leisure, history, cultural heritage, food, music, local achievements in arts and science, interesting persons, etc.
What are the objectives?
A. Of the Book:
1. To preserve for posterity true stories of nuances in Malaysian life and history of a positive nature;
2. To promote positive human values;
3. To encourage and promote local writers and the English language;
4. To portray in a dignified way, local achievements and accomplishments in arts, sciences, culture, culinary delights, etc.;
5. To stimulate the mind, touch the heart and tickle the funny bone and arouse the senses of the readers, both local and foreign;
6. To promote tourism in Penang and Malaysia;
7. To help the less privileged, handicapped members of our society through our cash generation.
Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Penang
Cancer is a prolific killer in Malaysia. According to the National Cancer Registry Report of 2008, 70,000 new cancer cases were registered between 2003 and 2008 in Peninsula Malaysia alone.
Practically everyone knows of somebody who has suffered from cancer. In fact cancer cells are inherent in everyone.
Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital was set up in 1976 by The Sisters Of The Franciscan Missionaries Of The Divine Motherhood. (http://www.mountmiriam.com/web/)
MMCH is a non-profit organisation providing high quality, compassionate and holistic care for cancer patients, regardless of any nationality or race, rich or poor. Since 1986 it has provided RM8 million for needy cancer patients.
The Target
We are targeting to raise funds towards part payment for their purchase of an IGRT machine which costs RM7.8 million. Our target? RM600,000.
We are appealing to Corporates in Malaysia that may want to help sponsor this project as one of their Corporate Social Responsibilities by way of being sponsors through donations, Companies that may want to advertise in the book to promote their products or services.
We are also appealing to individuals who would like to join us to contribute their time and efforts as:
